Terms of Service
Effective August 30, 2026. These terms describe the browser-based cleaning service, responsible use and the limits you should understand before relying on an output.
1. Service description
Remove Metadata provides browser-based tools and explanatory content for cleaning recognized metadata from supported image, document, audio and video files. The normal workflow creates a downloadable copy on your device and does not require a file-upload processing endpoint.
Features, supported formats, limits, interface behavior and page content may change as the project is improved.
2. Your files and outputs
You are responsible for the files you select, your right to modify them and how you use the output. Metadata removal does not transfer copyright, trademark, confidentiality, privacy or other rights. Keep your own backup of important originals and cleaned files.
A successful output means that the supported parser completed. It does not mean that every private structure, embedded item, visible watermark or provenance signal has been removed. Verify important outputs before delivery.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not attack, overload, disrupt or attempt to bypass security controls on the site.
- Do not use the site to process or distribute unlawful, infringing, harmful or deceptive content.
- Do not attempt to inject malicious code, exploit parsing bugs or interfere with another visitor's session.
- Do not misrepresent the tool's no-upload statement as a promise of total anonymity or regulatory compliance.
- Follow applicable law and the rights of other people and organizations.
4. Format coverage and limitations
Different formats store metadata in different structures. JPEG and GIF can use structure-aware paths; static PNG and WebP may be re-encoded; PDF and DOCX may be reserialized; audio and video containers use recognized atom, element or tag handlers. Unknown or malformed structures may remain or fail safely.
The default limits are 100 MB per file, 500 MB per queue and 10 files per batch. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected rather than flattened. These limits and capabilities are not a guarantee that every browser, device or file will behave identically.
5. Availability and downloads
The site is provided for convenience and may be changed, paused or removed. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, compatibility with every file or a particular output result. Browser APIs, memory limits and download behavior vary by device and software version.
You are responsible for checking downloads, keeping backups, scanning files according to your own policy and testing the output in the software where it will be used.
6. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the service is provided as is and as available without a promise that it will meet every requirement, remain error-free or remove every possible metadata field. You use the site and downloaded files at your own discretion.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Remove Metadata and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive losses arising from the site, an inability to use it, a parser result or a downloaded file. Some jurisdictions do not allow every limitation, so local law may affect this section.
7. Changes and contact
We may update these terms when the service, technology or legal requirements change. Continued use after an update means the updated terms apply to future use. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
